The Van Wonderen Workshop

⎯⎯   01

Welcome & Introduction

Guests are welcomed into the warm and elegant atmosphere of The Wonderen House, where the scent of caramel and butter fills the air. Sunlight shines through the tall windows, glimmering on the marble counter beneath the chandelier. The host introduces the story of the Dutch stroopwafel and the craft that Van Wonderen Stroopwafels keeps alive today. Everyone receives an apron and gloves before gathering around the counter, ready to begin their sweet adventure.

The Dough Moment

At the wooden table, all ingredients are beautifully arranged: flour, butter, sugar, eggs and milk. The host demonstrates how to make the perfect dough, explaining how each ingredient adds its own magic. Guests start kneading their own dough balls, feeling the texture change under their hands. Laughter mixes with the sound of dough hitting the table, and the room fills with a sense of anticipation and joy as the experience begins to take shape.

The Baking Moment

This is where the magic begins. Each dough ball is placed onto the hot vintage-style waffle iron, and as it closes with a soft click, the air fills with the sweet scent of caramelized dough. Moments later, it opens to reveal a perfect golden stroopwafel, crisp on the outside and soft within.

While still warm, the host shows how to slice it open and spread a layer of golden caramel syrup that melts into the waffle. Guests press the halves together again and then move to the fun part of decorating. The counter fills with melted chocolate, sprinkles and caramel bits as everyone creates their own stroopwafel, a small masterpiece made by hand and shared with joy.

Tasting & Enjoying

Once the decorating is done, it is time to taste the results. Guests take a seat with their freshly made stroopwafels and a warm cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate.

The first bite brings silence, then smiles, as the crispy shell and soft caramel center blend into pure comfort. The room hums with contentment and connection while laughter and conversation flow easily. It is more than just a tasting, it is a shared moment of happiness.

Closing & Takeaway

As the workshop comes to an end, guests wrap their own stroopwafels to take home, a small golden memory of their experience. Some linger to chat or take photos by the counter, while others admire their creations one last time.

The host thanks everyone warmly, and a final group photo captures the smiles and glow of the afternoon. Each guest leaves with their handmade stroopwafel, a happy heart and the feeling they have been part of something truly special, a Van Wonderen moment to remember.
